19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since that period of that year.

The win also signifies he has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving approach and frequent outbursts on court had led observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

Moutet defended four early-game break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
